The Renewable Integration and Grid Security (RIGS) Energy Atlantic facility will strengthen grid stability and cost-effectively maximize the potential of renewable energy for New Brunswick by providing the reliable backup support that wind and solar generation require. It will also deliver up to 500 MW of electricity generation capacity using aeroderivative turbines.

Flexible and responsive
The RIGS Energy Atlantic grid support facility will quickly respond to supply and demand fluctuations affecting New Brunswick’s power grid. It will serve as backup for periods of high demand and smooth grid impacts during sudden changes in wind generation output.

This facility compliments and enhances New Brunswick’s existing generation infrastructure and supports the province’s journey to net-zero with modern, adaptive technologies.
